10k (Standard and Unlimited) and 42k Marathon at Unicon XIV
Date and Location:
10k: Sunday 27 July at Vestamager. See the 10k route here. All competitors should report at 8:30 at the startlocation. If you want to go to the location by metro, there will be guides at Flintholm station at 7:30.
The standard competitors will race first, unlimited shortly after; first group begins racing at 9:00. The Unlimited competitors will begin no later than 9:15, so these riders need to report at the same time as the Standard Class competitors.
42.195k Marathon: Tuesday, 29 July. See the Marathon route here.
Competitors should report in the morning at the start location.
Required Dress: From the IUF Rulebook – Section 2.3, the required minimum dress is shoes, kneepads and gloves. In addition, helmets are required for ALL competitors in the 10km – Standard class, the 10km – Unlimited class, and the 42k Marathon.
Dismounts: Dismounts will be allowed in all 3 events. From IUF Rulebook, Section 2.11:
"In races where riders are allowed to remount and continue, riders must immediately remount at the point where the unicycle comes to rest, without running. If a dismount puts the rider past the finish line, the rider must back up and ride across the line again."
"In non-lane races, if a rider is forced to dismount due to a fall by the rider immediately in front, it is considered part of the race and both riders must remount and continue. The Referee can override this rule if intentional interference is observed."
10km – Standard Class
Unicycles: For 24" wheels, the outside diameter of the tire may not be larger than 618mm, with crank arms may be no shorter than 125mm. If there is 20" class, the outside diameter of the tire may not be larger than 518mm, with crank arms may be no shorter than 100mm.

If a personal best time is not given, riders will be placed in one of the slower groups. Riders who do not start with their pre-assigned group will be disqualified..
Route: The 10k race will be held in Vestamager. The route will be one loop with both left and right turns through a park area. There will not be any traffic on the route. The route has almost no elevation gain or descent.
Travel to the start of the 10k: Metro – 30-45 minutes; very little parking at the start area. Not recommended to drive.
Passing: Since the slowest riders are starting first, the fastest riders will be passing the slowest riders. All riders should stay to the right, except when passing. IUF Rulebook Section 2.10 "Passing" will be used.
"An overtaking rider must pass on the outside. The passing rider’s wheel must remain at least one wheel diameter (618mm) from the slower rider’s wheel at all times. The slower rider must maintain a reasonably straight course, and not interfere with the faster rider."
