Downhill Glide at Unicon XIV
Date and Location: Tuesday, 29 July at 19:00. Location will be about 2km from the main Unicon venues on Roskildevej (near Copenhagen Zoo).
Rules for Racing: The IUF Rulebook (version 2008), Section 2 will be used. In addition, Section 2.18.13 "Gliding Events" will be used.
Unicycles: There are no limitations on wheel size or crank size for this event.
Required Dress: From the IUF Rulebook – Section 2.3, the required minimum dress is shoes, kneepads and gloves. Helmets are also required.
Age Groups: These age groups are final:
Female: 0-13, 14-15, 16-18, 19+
Male: 0-14, 15-17, 18-24, 25+
Awards: Each male and female who places 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their age group will be awarded a medal. The fastest three male and female riders overall, the Downhill Glide World Champions, will also receive a trophy.
Start: There will be a short starting distance of 10m where riders can pedal, but they must be gliding before the gliding start line. They will be timed from their start until they cross the finish line. Riders are allowed two attempts. Dismounts before the finish line disqualify the rider in that attempt.
Length and Steepness of Course: Approximately 200m long, descending about 10m in elevation.
